Grading Policy :
Academic grades for each quarter will be determined as follows:

Semester grades will be based on the following percentages:
First quarter – 40%
Second quarter – 40%
Final Exam – 20%

Classroom Rules:

• Be on time. Chronic tardiness is a bad habit that your grade cannot tolerate. After your third unexcused late arrival, a zero will be entered in the class participation category of the Gradebook and for each subsequent unexcused late arrival. (Those who arrive more than 15 minutes late receive an unexcused absence and a zero for the day's class participation grade.)

• Be prepared. Bring all of your materials to class every day.
• Complete assignments on time. They are due at the beginning of class on the specified day. Unless there is a legitimate reason, you will receive an automatic 25-point (or 25 percent) reduction in grade on all late assignments. I will accept late assignments until the beginning of the following class. After that time, you receive a zero for the assignment.
• Keep up. If you miss class, it is your responsibility to get in touch with me for assignments and notes. If you miss a test, be prepared to take it on the day you return to class.
• Be respectful. Show courtesy and regard for yourself, fellow students, teachers, classroom and school. Students dismissed from class for disciplinary reasons will receive a zero for the day's class participation grade.
• Follow school rules. Rules outlined in the student handbook will be enforced. Be sure to understand the dress codes and comply with them.
• No food or chewing gum in class, but water in a Nalgene or clear plastic bottle is permitted.
• Use your computer responsibly. It is to be used for class work. Inappropriate use during class time (such as surfing the net, playing games, checking email, instant messaging, etc.) will result in disciplinary action and a zero for the day's class participation grade.
• All homework must be submitted via e-mail as a word attachment unless stated otherwise by me.

• You are not permitted to leave the room while you are taking quizzes, tests or exams.
• Back up your files. Computer malfunction is not a legitimate excuse for late or incomplete work. Everyone knows computers are not always reliable. Therefore, it is your responsibility to ensure that computer problems do not interfere with the timely completion of your assignments.
• Academic Dishonesty such as: using notes or talking to others during an exam, plagiarizing the work of others, letting others plagiarize your work, etc. This is unacceptable. If you are found cheating you will receive a zero for the assignment on which you cheated. If you are found cheating a second time you fail the semester.
