Joseph Loftin
Joseph Loftin is Headmaster of Wasatch Academy, a college
preparatory boarding school in Mount Pleasant, Utah. Joe
began as a mathematics teacher, there, in January of 1986.
In October of 1988, he was appointed Headmaster of Wasatch
Academy. After receiving a Bachelor of Science from the
University of Texas at Austin, Joe taught secondary school
social studies before earning a Masters in Education degree
at Utah State University. He was selected as a Klingenstein
Fellow at Columbia University where he researched the application
of play theory in secondary school curricula. As Headmaster,
Joe created the copyrighted Interactive Gradebook which
allows for immediate feedback between students, parents,
and faculty on individual student assessments. He serves
on the Board of Governors for the Pacific Northwest Association
of Independent Schools. Joe also served as a Trustee for
the Northwest School in Seattle, Washington.
