Course Objectives

Calculus is concerned with the development of the students' understanding of the concepts of differential and integral calculus, including experience with its methods and applications. The course will represent a multi-representational approach to calculus, with concepts, results, and problems expressed graphically, numerically, analytically, and verbally. The connections between these representations are also important. The major emphasis will be on broad concepts and applicable methods, not merely on manipulation and computational competence, which are important outcomes along the way. This course will prepare students for the intensive and demanding college calculus courses.
