Wasatch Dance Company 2006-2007
Dear Wasatch Parents,
Welcome to the 2006-2007 Dance Competition Season, my name
is Brittany Maxwell. This is my second year of teaching here
at Wasatch. I am originally from Greenville, TX. Before coming
to Wasatch, I danced professionally in Chicago with various
jazz and modern dance companies, including the Gus Giordano
Jazz Dance Chicago Second Company and The Valerie Alpert Dance
Company. I have been teaching and choreographing for 9 years,
and am excited to be working with Wasatch dancers for the
second year.
I am thrilled about the prospective group of dancers we have
this year. We will add some new talent to the company and
we have some great dancers returning. They all seem very enthusiastic
about performing. My goal for the company is that they all
become better, more knowledgeable dancers. This includes knowledge
of a variety of dance techniques, and that they become stronger
and more confident in their performing.
The Dance Company will be competing in various events around
Utah in the winter and spring. We will be attending one convention
and two competitions as a company. The convention will be
two days of dance packed classes from teacher/choreographers
across the country with a competition tagged on to the weekend.
The competitions might have a master class but the main focus
will be the performance opportunity. Once the competitions/conventions
have set their schedules I will let you know when we will
be performing. Parents are encouraged to come out and support,
especially if they are in the area.
We are going to try something new this year with the cost
of being a part of the dance company. Rather than charging
your account throughout the year for each time something comes
up with event fees, costume fees, video fees, etc, now there
will be a set rate of $500 that will cover all these costs.
This will make both our lives easier.
To get the year off on a strong foot, I encourage your dancer
to attend dance camp. It will be held August 28-September
3, the week before school begins.
Again, as the schedule unfolds and the dancers progress I
will be keeping you updated. I look forward to a fun-filled
year of dancing with your student! Feel free to contact me
