January Students of the Month

Daniel Choe, Wei-Chun Weng, Lun-Wei Chang, Nai-Wen Chang

Mt. Pleasant – The following students were named Students of the Month at Wasatch Academy for the month of January. They are Daniel Choe, Wei-Chun Weng, Lun-Wei Chang and Nai-Wen Chang. Nai-Wen “Nancy”, a freshman, is the daughter of Chiang-Chuan Chang & Shu-Hua Wu. Nancy is from Taipei, Taiwan and has one brother who also attends Wasatch Academy. Her favorite classes include Geometry, English and Dance. Nancy had a 2nd quarter GPA of (3.72), is on the Dean’s Honor Roll and is a member of the ski team. She also likes basketball, track & field and swimming. Her hobbies include playing the flute, dancing, sports and learning other instruments. Nancy would like to become a doctor but she would also like to teach people to play instruments and dance.

Lun-Wei “David”, a sophomore, is the son of Cheng-Jong Chang & Ya-Hui Tsai. David is from Taipei, Taiwan and has two sisters. His favorite subjects are World History, Biology and Yearbook. In his first year at Wasatch Academy David had a 1st semester GPA of (4.22) and is a on the Headmaster’s Honor Roll. He likes to hike, snowboard, play tennis and play frisbee. His hobbies include reading, watching movies, playing pool and chess. David’s goals in life include being an Architect and a Photographer.

Wei-Chun “Dean”, a junior, is the son of Bruce & Mei Weng. Dean is from Tainan, Taiwan and has an older brother who is a graduate of Wasatch Academy. In his third year at Wasatch Academy he is on the Honor Council, a dorm prefect, a member of the NHS and is on the Headmaster’s Honor Roll. Dean’s classes this year include AP History, AP Calculus, AP English, Honors Physics and Latin. Dean had a 2nd quarter GPA of (4.11) and he is a member of the International class. Dean likes to play tennis and his hobbies include table tennis, watching movies, reading and making pottery. His future goals include getting a high score on the SAT, being the International Rep for the student council and getting into a good college.

Daniel, a senior, is the son of Unpok & Monica Choe and has five brothers and sisters. He comes to Wasatch Academy for his first year from Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Daniel’s classes include AP History, AP Calculus and AP Biology and he is also a member of the Tigers’ basketball team. His favorite class is Art, he is on the Headmaster’s Honor Roll and he had a 2nd quarter GPA of (4.28). Daniel was recently picked as one of the ten Academic All-State Basketball players in region 1A. Daniel also likes to run track, lift weights and do kick boxing. His hobbies include sculpting, web page design, and animation. Daniel wants to become an orthodontist and to be a part-time sculptor.
