October Students of the Month

Mt. Pleasant – The following students were names Students of the Month at Wasatch Academy for the month of October. They are Yusuke Osakabe, Kunsang Gyurme, Lucas Haroldsen and Michelle Anderer. Michelle, a freshman, is the daughter of Priscilla Olsen and Mark Anderer. Michelle lives in Copperton, UT and has two sisters and one brother. In her first year at Wasatch Academy she is the freshman class student body rep. Her favorite subjects include Acting, Art and World Cultures. Michelle has a 1st quarter GPA of (4.33) and was named to the Headmaster’s Honor Roll. She was also named the Student of the Quarter for 1st quarter. She likes to play soccer, basketball and tennis. Some of her hobbies include drawing, painting and reading. Michelle was recently in the school’s Drama production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream where she played three different parts. Michelle’s goal in life is to become a successful film director.

Lucas, a sophomore, is the son of Daniel & Fukiko Haroldsen of Fukuoka, Japan and has two sisters. In his first year at Wasatch Academy he was a member of the Wasatch Academy Tigers Baseball team. Lucas has a 1st quarter GPA of (4.0) and was named to the Headmaster’s Honor Roll. His favorite subject is Science and he is also taking Algebra II Honors. He likes to play baseball, basketball, soccer and run track. He enjoys playing the guitar and is taking a music workshop class this year. His goals include attending college in the U.S. and then he would like to stay in the States to work.

Kunsang, a junior, is the son of Thupten & Gadug Passang of Nangchen, Tibet and he has one brother and one sister. This is Kunsang’s third year at Wasatch Academy. He has a 1st quarter GPA of (4.05) and is currently taking Calculus and Honors English. He was also named to the Headmaster’s Honor Roll. His favorite subject is Science and he enjoys playing soccer and basketball. Kunsang is a member of the Tibetan Culture class. His hobbies include playing pool and ping pong, watching movies and sleeping. His goal after graduation is to go on to college in the United States.

Yusuke, a senior, is the son of Tom & Yuko Osakabe of Tokyo, Japan. He has one brother and one sister. In his third year at Wasatch Academy he is a dorm prefect, captain of the basketball team and was the pitcher for the school’s baseball team. His favorite subject is English and he is also a TA for an ESL Grammar class. He has a 1st quarter GPA of (3.47), is taking Honors Physics and was named to the Dean’s Honor Roll. He loves playing baseball, basketball and soccer. His hobbies include music and playing the bass guitar. His future goals include attending the University in Japan and becoming a teacher/coach.
