Faculty Spotlight: Cheri Crosby
Cheri Crosby grew up in rural Central Utah . She attended college at Utah State University . She enjoys traveling and completed two student exchanges to Thailand and Denmark . In addition, she had two internships in Washington DC as a Program Assistant for the National 4-H Council.
In 1989, Cheri graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Liberal Arts with en emphasis in International Development and a minor in Family Life. Together, Cheri and her husband, Brian, decided that the Peace Corps was the best place for them, embarking on a wonderful two year experience in Guatemala, where they were assigned to the Central Highlands of Guatemala to work as 4-H coordinators.
Upon completion of the service in Guatemala , Cheri and Brian found themselves still interested in more time overseas. Fortunately, they were offered, and later accepted, positions with a school in Japan to teach ESL. Cheri has taught at the Shokei High School while Brian taught at Shokei High School affiliated Junior college.
After two years in Japan , the Crosbys returned to the U.S. where they began to raise a family. Most of the past 10 years has seen Cheri taking care of four children and working part-time teaching Spanish and ESL.
Cheri has had many experiences that have allowed her to work with and teach international students and enjoys it dearly. She has worked at Wasatch Academy for two years and enjoys the rewards of working with International students. When asked of her experience at Wasatch Cheri comments, “Each of the students that come to Wasatch Academy bring with them their own special talents and personalities. It is great to work in such a diverse environment We have 38 international students that come from 14 different countries. I learn something new everyday from my students and I enjoy sharing our American culture with them.”
